Refurbished Office Furniture’s 3rd Annual Non-Profit Office Furniture Makeover

Refurbished Office Furniture isn’t just environmentally-friendly, it’s also community-friendly. 2012 brought about ROF’s 3rd Annual Non-Profit Office Furniture Giveaway. Each year, Refurbished Office Furniture chooses five deserving nominees in the Tampa Bay area from a list of non-profit organizations that are nominated by other local businesses for an office makeover.

The grand prize winner receives $15,000 in refurbished office furniture and design services while the four runners-up recieve $3,000 in refurbished office furniture. The winner is chosen by who receives the most public votes through the giveaway website. After the votes are tallied, an awards ceremony is held to honor all of the nominees.

In preparation for the event, a postcard was mailed in September to local real estate brokers, architects, and interior designers in the commercial field, urging them to nominate a deserving non-profit for a much needed office makeover.

In addition to the postcard, e-blasts were also sent during the nomination phase.

Nods for nominees were sent through the giveaway website, and then narrowed down to the lucky five. Once the nominees were chosen, voting was opened on the website. Nominees showcased their need for an office makeover with a photo gallery of their current office space. The public was able to vote once per day for their favorite organization.

During the voting period, the nominees received weekly emails with rank updates. We also created a radio commercial highlighting the nominees aired on 970 WFLA, a newspaper newspaper ad in the Tampa Bay Times, and a web banner on to drive voteres to the site. We negotiated 116 PSAs and free adds because of ROF’s altruistic effort.

The voting period produced an amazing 1,920 votes from the Tampa Bay public. It was a tight race! Once the votes were tallied, Refurbished Office Furniture hosted an awards ceremony to honor each of the nominees. We created email invites for 2012’s nominees and the winners from the past two years along with handouts for the awards ceremony celebrating each non-profit.

The 2012 Grand Winner of $15,000 worth of REFURBISHED OFFICE FURNITURE is Explorations Five Childrens Museum. Accepting the award is CEO Georgann Carlton along with Victor Prebor of Lunz Prebor Fowler Architects, who nominated their non-profit.

As always, there are never losers. Each of the 5 finalists were given $3,000 in furniture for their special organizations. CONRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!
